INTERCESSION PRAYER TEAM
The goal of the intercession team is to intercede – to stand in the gap, to stand guard – for our church, our community, our nation and the nations of the world (see Ezek. 22:30, Isaiah 59:16, Romans 8:26, Eph. 6:18, I Tim. 2:1).
Every member of BP Church Prayer Shield is expected to be a part of the Intercession team. However, some may have a special gifting or calling for intercession—in which case, intercessory prayer may be the central focus of their involvement in the prayer ministry.
-
The Intercessor Team will participate in Prayer Shield in a variety of ways:
Daily intercession for Pastor’s and staff of BP Church (praying 15 minutes per day)
Pray for specific prayer requests sent from BP Church from individuals who contact the church with their need of prayer (formerly known as prayer chain)
Take part in organized intercessory prayer meetings at the church (e.g., Wednesday Corporate prayer meetings/Spiritual Renewal/Encounter Night)

To “stand in the gap” before God on behalf of another
“So I sought for a man who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found no one.” (Ezek. 22:30)
Standing in the gap is a metaphor for committed intercession. There is a gap between God and man that an intercessor tries to repair. No single phrase in Scripture more accurately describes the work of an intercessor than the phrase “stand before Me on behalf of.” The intercessor always comes “before God” on “behalf of” others.
(Notes from NKJV Spirit-Filled Life Bible on Ezek. 22:30).

We need people to step in the gap to respond to urgent prayer needs when people ask the church family to pray
